STEPS
- Notify School Psychologist and/or School Counselor
- A educational review of records will be completed (i.e. grades, attendance, cumulative file, etc.) prior to a meeting
- An Informational Student Team [IST] meeting will be scheduled with the teachers, an administrator, and depending on the referral, the school psychologist or the school counselor, the parents, and the student.
- Behavior reports will be administered to all teachers to receive a comprehensive look at the student's behaviors
- At the meeting, a discussion of strengths, weaknesses, concerns, and any new information from parents will be collected.
- From here a decision will be made on whether to proceed with different interventions, move forward with an initial psychoeducational evaluation or a Section 504 assessment, or to connect the family with community resources.
- The team needs to determine what is going to meet the needs of the student and how they can be successful and access the general education curriculum.
